Genealogical Societies & Family History Societies Most areas of the UK have Local Family History Societies that offer help and support to members and, often, have their own library of locally important historical information. Many local societies are also of interest to researchers living away from the ancestral locations because they will often offer help facilities to 'remote' members. There are a growing number of the societies creating their own websites and these frequently include forums, members' pages, message boards and databases that can prove to be invaluable.
